Abstract
This agreement sets out a framework for co-operation in the field of environment between Turkey and Syria. The parties agree to co-operate in fields, such as natural reserves management, habitat and species conservation, conservation of biodiversity, management of marine conservation areas, preventing water resources pollution, solid waste management, waste-water management technologies, soil pollution and remediation technologies, prevention of marine pollution caused by ships, environmental impact assessment and environmental inspections. It is also stated in the agreement that, the contracting parties will work to raise public awareness by adding the environmental dimension to the educational programs for all society structures and further agree to exchange information and experts, set up joint training programs and to co-operate in the field of implementation of environmental initiatives. The agreement is valid for three years and is automatically renewable with termination rights requiring six months written notice.
