Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Gambia on cooperation in the field of agriculture.

By the Decree No. 2018/11245 of the Council of Ministers of 17 January 2018, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Gambia on cooperation in the field of agriculture has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on (i) plant and animal production, particularly on halal meat, cereal, corn and peanut, (ii) land leasing or joint investments between producer organizations of both country, (iii) marketing of exported products of agricultural cooperatives of both country and development of agricultural marketing between private companies, (iv) sustainable modern irrigation techniques, land reclamation and protection of water resources from agricultural pollution, (v) plant and animal health, and (vi) land use planning. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of knowledge, experience, agricultural research and know-how and experts on agricultural machinery, equipment and rural development investment support program. The Parties may organize reciprocal visits between cooperatives especially with women managers as well as extension and training programs, seminars, symposia, fairs and meetings. An Agricultural Steering Committee shall be established. This MoU may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be solved through consultation and negotiation. This MoU shall be valid for five years and may be extended for successive periods of five years unless terminated by written notice requiring six months.
