Abstract
By the Presidential Decree No. 492 of 25th of December 2018, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on cooperation in the field of environment has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on (I) integrated waste and waste water management, (II) air quality management and long-range transboundary air pollution and dust transport, (III) environmental noise management, (IV) climate change adaptation and mitigation, and emission trading, (V) green economy, (VI) chemicals management, (VII) identification of potential risks for major industrial accidents, (VIII) clean production and sustainable consumption through recycling technologies for wastewater and integrated pollution prevention and control, (IX) environmental compliance chain through EIA, environmental permit and licensing procedures, environmental auditing, public participation and environmental monitoring, (X) biodiversity conservation and management of protected areas, (XI) environmental and geographic information systems, and (XII) institutional capacity building and public awareness-raising on environmental issues. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of information, know-how and documents on research, development and implementation activities. The Parties may organize training programs, meetings, conferences, symposia, scientific and technical visiting programs, and reciprocal visits of researchers, consultants, experts and members of NGOs. A Joint Committee shall be established to ensure the efficient implementation of cooperation activities under this MoU. This MoU may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This MoU shall be valid for one year and may be extended for successive period of one year unless terminated by written notice requiring six months. Furthermore each party shall be entitled to terminate this MoU at any time through diplomatic channels and in this case this MoU shall be terminated within three months after the date of the receipt of the notification.
