Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Turkey and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the field of forestry.

By the Decree No. 2016/9215 of the Council of Ministers of 19 September 2016, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Turkey and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the field of forestry has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on (i) forest fire management, (ii) integrated pest management, (iii) production and marketing of non-timber forest products, (iv) forest rehabilitation, (v) watershed management in forests, (vi) afforestation in arid and semi-arid areas, (vii) production of seed and seedling, (viii) planning and sustainable management of forests, (vix) management of wildlife, (vx) sustainable management of protected areas, (vxi) combating desertification, (xvii) control of wind erosion, (xviii) sand dune fixation, (xix) conservation and rehabilitation of soil, and (xx) increasing livelihoods of local communities residing near forests. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of scientific and technical documents and information, by exchange of experts, researchers and consultants, as well as by developing and implementing joint projects. The Parties may organize conferences, meetings, seminars, training programs and study tours. A Joint Committee shall be established by the Parties. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be resolved through negotiation. This Agreement shall be valid for one year and is automatically renewable with termination rights requiring six months written notice.
