Abstract
This Memorandum of Understanding aims to set forth a framework for developing co-operation in the energy field between Turkey and Iraq and maximizing mutual interest. The Countries will develop joint projects to fulfill Iraq’s needs for infrastructure of oil, gas and electricity generation and distribution. Turkey will support Iraq in the field of electricity by constructing electricity power plants, transferring electricity by constructing another a new transmission line and educating Iraqi power system staff. Turkey will further support Iraq Gas Master Plan and export of surplus of Iraqi natural gas by facilitating the export route. The parties further agree to co-operate on encouraging Turkish oil companies to participate in bid rounds for the development of oil and gas fields in Iraq, exchanging technical experts to share information in the fields of petroleum industries and solar energy system and building a joint committee which will meet at least twice annually in the capitals of contracting parties.
