Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Lebanon on cooperation in the field of forestry.

By the Decree No. 2017/10398 of the Council of Ministers of 29 May 2017, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Lebanon on cooperation in the field of forestry has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation in the field of sustainable forest management, pest management and legal, administrative and economical aspects of forest governance, as well as on activities such as afforestation, reforestation, seedling production techniques, combating forest fires, combating desertification, soil erosion control, watershed improvement and rehabilitation, forest monitoring, and forest inventory with GIS technologies. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of scientific and technical information, best environmental technologies, experts, researchers, and officers and by preparing and implementing joint projects and scientific-technical researches/programs. The Parties may organize meetings, training programs, conferences and symposiums. This MoU may be amended by mutual written consent. Each Party shall designate a National Coordinator to be responsible for the management of cooperation activities under this MoU. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This MoU shall be valid for five years and may be renewed for successive periods of five years with termination rights requiring six months written notice.
