Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Turkey and the State of Qatar on cooperation in the field of environment.

By the Decree No. 2016/8583 of the Council of Ministers of 16 February 2016, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Turkey and the State of Qatar on cooperation in the field of environment has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on integrated waste and wastewater management, pollution control, air quality management, environmental noise management, climate change, green economy, chemicals management, prevention of major industrial accidents, clean production and sustainable consumption, EIA, environmental auditing and monitoring, environmental permit and licensing procedures, biodiversity conservation in protected areas, development of eco-tourism activities, electronic environmental applications, environmental geographic information system, institutional capacity building and public awareness and education regarding environment. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of information, know-how and documents on research, as well as by developing projects. The Parties may organize training programs, meeting, conferences and reciprocal visits by researchers, consultants, experts and representatives of NGO. A Joint Committee shall be established by the Parties. This MoU may be amended through the mutual written consent of the Parties. The dispute may be solved by negotiations between the Parties. This MoU shall be valid for one year and is automatically renewable with termination rights requiring six months written notice. Furthermore, this MoU shall be terminated within three months by each Party in case of notifying the other Party through diplomatic channels.
