Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Türkiye and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on cooperation in the field of fisheries and aquaculture.

This MoU is approved by the Presidential Decree No. 9538 dated 4 March 2025. The Parties agree to cooperate on the following matters: (i) exchange of scientifıc and technical experience in the areas of fisheries and aquaculture and other related activities between the relevant scientifıc organizations and public institutions of the Parties; (ii) the entrance of the fısheries and aquaculture products of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela into the Turkish market, under a preferential regime, and the approval of accreditation and control systems between the Parties; (iii) carrying out joint projects in the fıelds of fısheries, aquaculture fishing industry and connected activities, as well as the effective use of marine resources and sustainable development; (iv) diversifıcation and enhancement of joint activities of the private companies in alI areas of fısheries and aquaculture; (v) promoting responsible fishing in Venezuelan fishing zones based on the principles of sustainable fısheries; (vi) fısheries inspections; (vii) exchange of knowledge and experience and the organization of trainings in the field of fisheries and aquaculture; and (viii) conducting fishing activities by Turkish fıshing vessels in the Venezuelan fishing zones in accordance with the national and international fisheries and aquaculture law in force. The Parties will establish a Joint Committee on Fisheries to monitor and review the irnplernentation of the provisions of this Memorandum of Understanding. The controversies may be solved through negotiation and consultations. The Parties may make amendments to this MoU by mutual written consent. This MoU shall be valid for four years and may be extended for successive period of four years unless terminated by written notice requiring 6 months through diplomatic channels.
