Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of energy between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

By the Decree No. 2017/10150 of the Council of Ministers of 17 April 2017, the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of energy between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has been approved. The Parties agree upon promoting the development of bilateral scientific, technical, technological, legislative, administrative and commercial cooperation in the field of energy. The Parties shall develop cooperation by (i) encouraging investments in both countries and/or third countries, (ii) promoting joint projects, (iii) exchange of know-how, experience and knowledge, especially on renewable energy resources and energy efficiency, (iv) exchange of information in the coal sector, (v) exchange of expertise and experience regarding clean coal technologies, (vi) promoting joint exploration and development of coal mines, (vii) promoting joint construction and operation of thermal and hydro power plants, (viii) designing and manufacturing turbines, generators and other relevant power facilities, and (ix) exchange of expertise and experience in the electricity sector. This MoU may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be solved through consultation and/or negotiation. This MoU shall be valid for five years and may be extended for successive periods of five years with termination rights requiring three months written notice.
