Abstract
This Memorandum of Understanding sets forth a framework of co-operation between the Republic of Turkey and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the environment field. The contracting governments agree upon establishing a joint commission, holding joint meetings and seminars, organising training programs and creating public awareness. The parties declare that they will co-operate in water, waste water management, protection and management of marine environment, reduction of air pollutants, pollution control, hazardous materials and waste control, environmental impact assessment and developing EIA monitoring mechanisms, conservation of biodiversity, wetland management. The parties further decide upon the rules and procedures of implementation and rights and obligations of each party arousing from this Memorandum of Understanding, settlement of disputes and funding issues. This Memorandum is valid for a five year period with termination rights requiring six months notice. It may be amended and extended by the mutual consent of both parties.

Entry into force notes
The Memorandum of Understanding enters into force on the day of declaration of all national legal requirements are fulfilled by both contracting governments.
Notes
The provisions of this Memorandum of Understanding are implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey and by the Department of Environment of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
