Memorandum of Understanding in the fields of forestry and forestry researches between the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Iraq.

By the Decree No. 2018/11308 of the Council of Ministers of 17 January 2018, the Memorandum of Understanding in the fields of forestry and forestry researches between the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Iraq has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on (i) forest fire control, (ii) forestry research, (iii) planning and sustainable management of forests, (iv) biodiversity conservation and management of natural resources, (v) rehabilitation of degraded forest areas, (vi) combatting desertification and erosion control through transfer of trees, (vii) afforestation, (viii) wildlife management and protection of endangered species, and (ix) national parks. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of knowledge, experts, forestry technology and by developing joint scientific and technical research and projects. The Parties may organize training programs, meetings, conferences and symposiums. Each party shall designate a National Coordinator to be responsible for the management of cooperation activities under this MoU. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This MoU may be amended by mutual written consent. This MoU shall be valid for five years unless terminated by written notice requiring six months.
