Abstract
This Regulation sets forth the principles and procedures of a registration scheme for various improved or developed livestock races, hybrids and local races. The Regulation is based on the Livestock Improvement Act (No. 4631).
A Registration Committee is established comprising representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Forestry, Universities, NGOs, Scientific and Technical Research Institute of Turkey, and Turkish Patent Institute. Duties and responsibilities of the Committee are set out in the Regulation. Registration may be effected only on application of the related research entity or of individuals who have accomplished a specific improvement. Intellectual property rights will be granted only after registration. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs holds the ownership rights of local races. For improved and developed new or different races, all commercial production and sales rights belong to the individual or the company who has made the registration.
