Abstract
This Regulation sets out the procedures and principles regarding the detection, combat, eradication and prevention of the spread of Ralstonia solanacearum which causes bacterial wilt in potatoes and tomatoes and brown rot in potatoes. It lays down provisions concerning the conditions of annual risk-based official surveys for the presence of the specified pest in surface water used for irrigation of potato and tomato plants and in liquid waste; recording of the results of annual surveys in the quarantine harmful organism survey registration system in the Agricultural Information System; measures in case of suspicion or confirmation of the presence of the specified pest; the establishment of demarcated areas, consisting of an infested zone; eradication measures for specified plants designated as infected by the specified pest; specific testing measures for tubers for planting; and administrative sanctions in accordance with the Article 38 of the Law No. 5996 on veterinary services, plant health, food and feed. This Regulation has been drafted in line with the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1193 establishing measures to eradicate and prevent the spread of Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith 1896) Yabuuchi et al. 1996 emend. Safni et al. 2014.
