Regulation on measures to eradicate and prevent the spread of the pathogenic agent of potato wart disease.

This Regulation sets out the procedures and principles regarding the detection, combat, eradication and prevention of the spread of Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilbersky) Percival which is the causal agent of potato wart disease. It lays down provisions concerning the annual risk-based official surveys of tubers, root collars and stolons in the production sites where potato plants are grown or stored; laboratory tests of the specified pest using the methods set out in Annex 1; the designation of infested production sites and infected specified plants; the establishment of demarcated areas, consisting of an infested zone and a buffer zone; eradication measures for specified plants which originate from an infested zone; testing for resistance of potato varieties to pathotypes of the specified pest in accordance with the protocol set out in Annex 3; notification of the confirmed presence of the specified pest on a resistant potato variety; the revocation of the measures in the demarcated area which becomes free from the specified pest in accordance with the conditions set out in Annex 4; and administrative sanctions in accordance with the Article 38 of the Law No. 5996 on veterinary services, plant health, food and feed. This Regulation has been drafted in line with the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1195 establishing measures to eradicate and prevent the spread of Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilbersky) Percival.
