Abstract
This Regulation sets forth minimum standards for breeding conditions taking account of physiolog requirements, in particular drinking and feeding needs and animal behaviour, and the practical aspects of the careful handling of chickens. The Regulation sets rules concerning breeding requirements, inspection, increase in flock size and monitoring and follow-up at the slaughterhouse. It is drafted in line with the Council Directive 2007/43/EC of 28 June 2007 laying down minimum rules for the protection of chickens kept for meat production.
