Abstract
This Regulation lays down the procedures and principles regarding: (i) germinal products of breeding animals, (ii) storage and marketing of germinal products, (iii) import and export of germinal products, (iv) import and export of breeding animals producing germinal products, (v) the authorization of public institutions and organizations and university laboratories that will perform quality analysis on semen, (vi) permits, work and official controls of those who produce, store and market germinal products used in animal reproduction, (vii) record-keeping obligations and traceability of germinal products, (viii) technical criteria, yield characteristics and health conditions and permits for donor animals from which reproductive products will be produced using reproductive biotechnological methods, and (ix) permits, work and official controls of businesses and individuals engaged in embryo production. This Regulation shall not apply to germinal products of wild animals and germinal products stored at gene banks for the protection of local animal genetic resources. It has been drafted in line with the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/686 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2016/429 as regards the approval of germinal product establishments and the traceability and animal health requirements for movements within the Union of germinal products of certain kept terrestrial animals.

Entry into force notes
This Regulation enters into force on the nientieth day following that of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Notes
The provisions of this Regulation are enforced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
