Abstract
This Act makes provision for the protection of any animal kept in captivity.
The Act, among other things: (a) defines fundamental principles of animal welfare; (b) establishes the Animal Welfare Advisory Council; (c) provides for the appointment of animal welfare inspectors; (d) provides rules for the keeping of livestock; (e) provides rules for surgery and slaughtering; (f) provides rules for the care of working animals and injured animals; (g) provides for the approval of biotechnology in relation with animals; (h) provides for the control of animal experiments; and (i) provides for the impounding of animals and the control of harmful animals.
