Abstract
This Act consisting of 78 articles divided into XII Parts amends several Acts, namely (i) the Animal Diseases Act, in the article related to Offences and Penalties; (ii) the Animal Welfare Act, in the article related to Offences and Penalties; (iii) the Bank of Tanzania Act, deleting the word Government wherever it appears and substituting for it the word Governments; (iv) the Government Loans, Guarantees and Grants Act, by adding article 14a providing for an Authority to guarantee insurance risks; (v) the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, the main amendments concern several articles related to self-testing, the authorities responsible for quality and standards control, and the penalties; (vi) the Industrial and Consumer Chemicals (Management and Control) Act with modifications regarding some word's changing as well as the provision on the administration and functions referring to the Government Chemist Laboratory Authority Act, the prohibition from dealing in some chemicals listed in the Schedules at tyhe end of the Act, the import or transit of chemicals in the ports, the article relating to the annual reports and performance agreements, and the article dealing with the offences; (vii) the Mining Act, in the article related to the application for dealer license and, mainly, in Part V concerning the Lapidary license and related issues; (viii) the National Leaders' Funerals Act, with some naming and vocabulary modifications, amending the part concerning the protocols for burial of some national leaders of Zanzibar, and some procedural mattaers; (ix) the Ports Act, modifying the port definition, procedures for the declaration of ports, the power of Authority to make rules, and the provision on limitation in legal proceedings; (x) the Prevention of Terrorism Act; (xi) the Registration and Identification of Persons Act, by adding an article on the control of data.
