Abstract
These Regulations provide for control by the Cashew Marketing Board of picking, collecting, buying, processing and exporting of cashew nuts.
The 25 regulations are divided into 6 Parts: Preliminary (I); Collection and visual grading (II); Buying procedures (III); Buying of raw cashewnut (IV); Procedure and guideline for processing (V); Export procedures (VI).
Growers shall collects nuts immediately after the fall. The grower shall make a visual grading in two grades of which the characteristics are specified. The cashew nuts shall be sold to a licensed buyer and if a dispute regarding grading arises it shall be referred to agricultural personnel at the buying post (reg. 4). The Board shall advertise the beginning of the buying season. All buyers shall be registered with the Board and shall receive a Registration Certificate. Upon registration a buyer shall obtain a trading licence (regs. 5 and 6). Buyers shall declare buying prices at buying posts appointed by local authorities. Regulation 15 specifies required grades for cashew nut kernels in grading by processing units. Each processor shall observe quality standards for products, fumigate the factory prior to processing, arrange for routine quarterly fumigation, and make a commitment agreement with the Board to procure adequate quantities of raw nuts (reg. 17).
