Abstract
These Regulations, consisting of nine articles, aim to regulate inland fisheries by establishing the following rules (i) fishing in specified areas of Lake Victoria, Lake Nyasa, and Lake Lake Rukwa is prohibited during the closed period (January 1 to June 30) unless specific means are used; (ii) the 'katuli' method (splashing and disturbing water to chase fish into set gill-nets) is always prohibited; (iv) Article 6 specifies the permitted fishing methods for specified minor waters. Landing fish is only allowed at designated landing stations; (v) it is forbidden to touch, remove, destroy, or tamper with a mark-buoy that demarcates a fish breeding area; (vi) penalties are outlined for anyone who contravenes these regulations.
