Mining (Local Content) (Amendments) Regulations, 2019 (GN No. 139 of 2019).

These Regulations, consisting of 9 articles, amend the original Regulations by making the following changes: (i) redefining an "indigenous Tanzanian company" by lowering the required local ownership percentage from 51% to 20%; (ii) extending timelines in Article 11; (iii) adding a provision in Article 13 that requires the Minister to consult stakeholders before establishing additional minimum local content levels; (iv) clarifying the definitions of "Tanzanian" and "foreign" financial institutions in Article 34; (v) revising the definition of a "Tanzanian bank" in Article 36 to include banks with either 100% Tanzanian ownership or at least 20% Tanzanian shareholding; and (vi) correcting and clarifying regulatory references in the First, Second, and Third Schedules.
