Abstract
These Rules aim at the prevention of spreading of a disease affecting the cassava plant. Transportation of cassava plants from or into any part of the Kagera region without permission of the Director of Agriculture is prohibited. The District Officer for Apiculture and Livestock Development shall declare areas affected by the diseases to be under quarantine. Inspectors who finds or reasonably suspects the disease to be in plants shall notify the owner or occupier of the land and direct destruction by fire of the cassava plants. Only disease resistant plants shall be planted in quarantine areas.
