Abstract
This Act establishes the Tanzania Bureau of Standards as a body corporate and makes provision with respect to the publication and enforcement of standards in Tanzania. The Bureau shall, among other things, undertake measures for quality control of commodities and services; promote standardization in industry and trade; assist industries in setting up and enforcing quality assurance and environmental management systems procedures; issue National Standards; and approve (the use of) standard marks.

An Act to provide for the promotion of the standardization of specifications of commodities and services, to re-establish the Tanzania Bureau of Standards and to provide better provisions for the functions, management and control of the Bureau, to repeal the Standards Act, Cap. 130 and to provide for other relation matters.
