Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 28 of the Water Supply and Sanitation Act, 2009, govern the quality of service and related matters on the provision of water supply and sanitation services in all Mainland Tanzania except in the DAWASA Designated Area (as designated by the Dar es Salaam Water and Sewerage Authority Act). A holder of a licence issued under the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) Act and the Act to provide Water Supply and Sanitation Services is obliged to meet all the quality of service targets as prescribed in the First Schedule. Licence holders that do not meet the quality standards shall pay compensation to customers. A licence holder shall, on an annual basis, report to EWURA on the attainment and non-attainment of the quality of service targets. The Regulations also make provision with respect to application for water supply and sanitation services by customers, connection and metering, payment of services, maintenance, a complaints handling procedure, and a Public Awareness Programme to be implemented by the licence holder.
