Abstract
These Regulations provide for the control of dealing in trophies of wild animals. Subject to conditions of regulation 4 a Trophy Dealer's Licence may be issued to any citizen of the United Republic upon an application made by him in the form prescribed in the First Schedule and payment of a fee (reg. 2). The Licence shall be in the form prescribed in the Third Schedule. A licensed dealer shall not enter into dealings not authorized in the licence (reg. 5). Further requirements with respect to dealing in trophies can be found in regulation 5. A trophy export certificate shall be in the form prescribed in the Seventh Schedule. A Licensing Officer may refuse to issue such certificate if in his opinion the trophy was not lawfully obtained (reg. 7). A trophy certificate shall be valid for one month only. Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions trophies of animals listed in the Eighth Schedule and which are protected by the CITES need an export certificate issued and signed by the Director of Game and the Chief Research Officer of the Game Division.
