Abstract
The Act provides for the establishment of protected areas for wild animals, the control of the hunting of such animals, the registration and sale of trophies and prescribes offences in relation with activities regulated by this Act. The President may, by order in the Gazette, declare any area of Tanganyika to be a game reserve (sect. 5). The Minister may, by order in the Gazette, declare controlled game areas (sect. 6). Section 10 prohibits the hunting, capturing or killing of any animal in any game reserve or game controlled area save with a permission in writing from the Director of Game appointed under section 3 by the President. Other provisions of Part III deal with the declaration of national game (sect. 15), close seasons and prevailing rules if the area is also a national park (sect. 20). Part IV provides for the hunting, capturing and photographing of "specified" and 'scheduled' animals. Part V provides for the registration of trophies, Part VI for licences, permits, and certificates in relation with dealings in trophies. Part VII declares certain trophies to be Government trophies.
