Order No. 157 of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy validating the Regulation on testing of pedigree horses – trotters, saddle-horses and cart-horses at the race-tracks pf Ukraine.

The present Regulation shall be compulsory for all entities carrying out pedigree stockbreeding involved in testing. The result of testing carried out in violation of the present Regulation shall not be officially recognized and shall not be registered in catalogues and other official pedigree registers. Testing shall be carried out for the purpose of the determination of working qualities of the horses and the results of testing shall be used for the selection and pedigree stockbreeding. Only horses in possession of the horse’s certificate shall be admitted for testing. Medical treatment to the horses shall be applied exclusively upon the prescription by veterinary surgeon. The use of dope shall be strictly prohibited. Horse owner submitting horses for testing must produce veterinary certificate attesting well-being of the horses, horse’s certificate and testing record if the horse has previously passed testing. The trotters and the saddle-horses beginning from two years of age and cart-horses beginning from four years of age shall be admitted for testing. The age of horses shall be calculated from 1 January of the year of birth. Two-year old horses shall begin testing from 1 May. The pregnant mares and the nursing mares, and also blind horses shall not be admitted for testing. The trotter mares shall be admitted for testing up to the age of five years and stud-horses shall be admitted for testing up to the age of ten years. The thoroughbred saddle-mare shall be admitted for testing up to the age of four years and the thoroughbred stud-horses shall be admitted for testing up to eight years of age. The stallions and the mares of cart-horse breed shall be admitted for testing up to eight years of age. The agility standard shall be set for all age groups of the trotters. The requirements of the agility standard must be officially published. The saddle-horses shall be tested in smooth race and the uphill battle, and also in steeplechase. Testing of cart-horses shall be carried out for the purpose of the revelation of the best working qualities of horses destined for reproduction. The races shall be carried out under common conditions for all breeds of cart-horses for the age group from four to eight years of age.
