Abstract
This Act provides with respect to the branding of cattle, the registration of brands, the transfer of registered brands and related matters. It also provides some rules relative to slaughtering and use of branded animals and prohibits fraudulent branding.
The Registrar of Brands, appointed under this Act by the Minister, may, upon application, register a brand and shall publish quarterly a brand directory. Every butcher, poundmaster and auctioneer shall keep a book in which he or she shall enter the brands cut or imprinted on all stock slaughtered or sold by him or her. Hide of slaughtered stock shall be preserved for a certain period and shall be subject to inspection.
