16 USC - Chapter 10: Northern Pacific Halibut Fishing - §773-773k.

This Act implements provisions of the Convention between the United States of America and Canada for the Preservation of the Halibut Fishery of the Northern Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea, signed at Ottawa, Canada on March 2, 1953, as amended by the Protocol Amending the Convention, signed at Washington March on 29, 1979. The Act, among other things: provides with respect to United States' representation on the International Pacific Halibut Commission provided for by article III of the Convention; assigns the general responsibility to carry out the Convention and this Act to the Secretary of Commerce; allows the Secretary of State, with the concurrence of the Secretary of Commerce, to accept or reject, on behalf of the United States, recommendations made by the Commission; defines offences in respect of halibut fishing or resistance to enforcement measures; provides with respect to transfer of ownership of a vessel, a permit, or any interest in a permit; defines measures of enforcement.
