Abstract
This Part of Title 50 lays down regulations for the implementation of the Federal Subsistence Management Program on public lands within the State of Alaska, including all inland waters, both navigable and non-navigable, within and adjacent to the exterior boundaries of the areas and on the marine waters, as listed in this part. § 100.5 allows only Alaska residents of a rural area or rural community to take fish and wildlife on public lands for subsistence uses, and § 100.6 sets out other requirements, such as possessing the pertinent valid Alaska resident licenses for hunting and trapping and harvesting permit. Furthermore, the regulations contained in this part include: establishment, powers and duties of the Federal Subsistence Board; establishment of a Regional Council for each subsistence resource region to participate in the Federal subsistence management program; customary and traditional use determination process; determining priorities for subsistence uses among rural Alaska residents; and general regulations for subsistence taking of fish, wildlife, and shellfish.
