Yakima River Basin Water Enhancement Project (P.L. 103-434; Title XII)

The purpose of this Title is to protect, mitigate, and enhance fish and wildlife through improved water management, to improve reliability of water supply for irrigation, to authorize a Yakima River basin water conservation program and to provide for the implementation by the Yakama Indian Nation at its sole discretion of water management projects. The conservation programme, consisting of four phases, shall be established by the Secretary of the Interior in consultation with several interested parties. To participate in the conservation programme, an entity must submit a proposed water conservation plan to the Secretary (sect. 1203). Section 1207 provides for measures of enhancement of water supplies for Yakima basin tributaries. (12 sections)
