Presidential Decree No. PP-44 “On additional measures for further development of hydropower generation.”

The President, in order to further expand the coverage of existing hydropower potential of natural and artificial watercourses and renewable energy sources of the country in production electricity, as well as creating favorable conditions for attracting private investment and development on this basis of capacities for the generation of new environmentally friendly energy, decrees as follows: (a) to determine the main important directions for further development of hydropower and rational use of existing hydropower potential of the country by increasing the capacity of hydroelectric power stations of the country in 2030 up to 3,416 MW by consistently accelerating the creation of new capacities and phased modernization of existing production facilities capacity due to the widespread use of environmentally friendly energy sources in the electric power industry; and (b) widespread involvement of the private sector and population in production of electrical energy using natural watercourses, support and stimulation, provision of guaranteed connection to the unified power grid system, creating a system of guaranteed purchases of generated electrical energy.
