Abstract
This Action Plan to Implement the National Nutrition Strategy to 2025 outlines the country's commitment to improving nutrition through various programs and actions, aiming to enhance public health and nutrition from 2021 to 2025.
The Action Plan identifies several challenges, including lack of investment in nutrition by local governments, insufficient financial resources for nutrition programs, poor inter-sectoral coordination, outdated policies, and limited capacity of the nutrition workforce. It takes into account the changing nutritional landscape, including the rise in overweight, obesity, and micronutrient deficiencies alongside traditional malnutrition. It sets specific goals and targets for 2025, focusing on diverse and balanced diets, improving nutrition for mothers, children, and adolescents, controlling overweight and obesity, and enhancing micronutrient status. Key initiatives include strengthening social media outreach to disseminate nutritional education through platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Zalo. The establishment of a national electronic portal for nutrition and food management is also highlighted, alongside the development of educational materials tailored to different age groups and specific audiences, such as parents and teachers. The Action Plan stresses the need for training and capacity building for nutrition professionals to improve the quality of nutrition services across the country. It also addresses emergency nutrition responses, particularly in situations like natural disasters and disease outbreaks, ensuring that local models are adapted to meet community needs. Furthermore, the Action Plan outlines efforts to enhance healthcare services in rural areas, improve the nutritional status of women and children, and increase health insurance coverage among the population. Potential sources of funding has been identified, including national budgets, community mobilization, international support. The Annexes details specific programs, projects, and monitoring indicators related to nutrition.
