Abstract
This Regulation provides for measures to manage safety of genetically modified organisms (GMO) and products and goods originating from GMOs. The Regulation consists of 24 articles divided into 8 Chapters: General provisions (I); Scientific research, technological development and assay (II); Production, trading and use (III); Import, export, storage and transportation (IV); Risk assessment, risk management and grant of biological safety certificates (V); Tasks of management of biological safety (VI); Handling of violations (VII); Implementation provisions (VIII). When conducting scientific research and technological development, organizations and individuals shall register such activities with the Ministry of Science and Technology. Activities for testing the level of biological safety of GMOs shall follow provisions listed in article 5. Production or business registration certificates are needed to produce, trade or put to use GMOs. GMOs, which have undergone risk assessment, shall be granted biological safety certificates. Chapter VI specifies the contents of state management of biological safety of GMOs and the tasks of the various ministries.
