This Decision approves the National Program on Conservation of Endangered, Rare and Precious Wild Animal Species Prioritized for Protection until 2030, with a vision to 2050. The Programme is presented as a priority contribution to implementing the national biodiversity strategy and to supporting green economic development and climate adaptation. The Programme sets a general objective to restore, protect, and sustainably develop prioritized endangered wildlife species and specific targets including: improving population status of at least ten species; ensuring at least three species are captive-bred for conservation and reintroduced by 2030; and achieving management and monitoring plans for 100% of prioritized species in reserves and biodiversity facilities.
Key measures specified include nationwide surveys and a national database, in-situ conservation and protected-area measures, ex-situ conservation and reintroduction (including pilot breeding projects), habitat restoration and ecological corridors, disease research and One Health guidance, strengthened law enforcement to prevent illegal exploitation and trade and inter-agency coordination, communications and public awareness, capacity building and technical training, adoption of modern monitoring technologies, and international cooperation under relevant biodiversity conventions.
