Decision of the Prime Minister Approving the Biodiversity Action Plan for Vietnam.

This text contains rules to implement the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act recently approved by the National assembly, and it implements principles and provisions of the Convention on Biological Diversity. The Decision approves the Action Plan for Biodiversity and defines tasks of various state agencies with respect to implementation of the plan. The Plan itself, here attached, is a policy outline of the main issues regarding safeguarding the environment and biodiversity: threats to the biodiversity; over-exploitation including over-exploitation of fishery resources; water pollution; degradation of the coastal areas, etc. The objectives of the Plan are spelled out and the actions to be undertaken in the near future defined.
