Decree No. 99/1998/ND-CP on management of sea-going vessel purchase and sale.

This Decree has been issued for the purpose of efficient management of projects relative to sea-going vessels, purchase and sale of vessels, the modernisation of the sea-going vessel fleet of Vietnam, to meet requirements regarding technical safety and protection of the sea environment, and further to improve the procedures for ratification, decision-making and licensing of sea-going vessels purchase and sale projects. General policy principles are outlined in article 4. Sea going vessels are classified according to their capital source by article 8. Articles 12 to 21 contain rules relative to approval of plans relative to the purchase or sale of sea-going vessels.
