Abstract
The provisions of the Law shall, inter alia, apply to all sea-going ships which engage in exploiting, exploring and processing maritime resources (art. 3). Vietnamese ships shall be registered in the National registry Book of Sea-going Ships. Information which shall be registered is specified in article 14. Section B of Chapter II ("Sea-going Ships") provides for maritime safety and the prevention of marine pollution. Section E provides for rights of ownership of sea-going ships, mortgage, liens and other priority debt rights. Provision of Chapter III regulate matters with respect to ship crew. Other chapters are entitled: Seaports and port authority (IV); General provisions (V); Contracts for the transportation and passengers and luggage(VI); Charter party (VII); Shipping agents and maritime brokers (VIII); Maritime pilotage (IX); Sea towage (X); Maritime salvatage (XI); Recovery of sunken property (XII); Collisions (XIII); General average (XIV); Civil liability of shipowners (XV); Marine insurance contracts (XVI); Resolution of maritime disputes (XVII); Final provisions (XVIII). The Code consists of 44 articles.
