Order No. 05/2008/L-CTN on the promulgation of the Law Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Petroleum Law.

This Order amends the Petroleum Law.
Amendments include: insertion of new definitions to article 3; substitution of article 8 with a new article defining the exploration area covered by a Petroleum Contract; substitution of article 13 defining activities to be carried out once petroleum operations are terminated; substitution of article 14 on the state company authorized to carry out oil and gas activities; substitution of article 17 on the duration of an oil and gas contract; substitution of articles 23, 24 and 26 dealing with matters related to oil and gas contracts; substitution of clauses of article 28, of article 29 and 30 regarding rights and obligations of contractors; substitution of article 32 on taxes to be paid; substitution of article 38 on the state management of oil and gas activities; replacement of the phrase “Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation” with the phrase “Vietnam Oil and Gas Group” throughout the text; and the abrogation of articles 33, 34, 35, 36, 37 and 39.
