Abstract
A new definition of “Commissioner” is given: “Commissioner” means the Commissioner of Maritime Affairs appointed under section 12 of the Vanuatu Maritime Authority Act No. 29 of 1998”. Section 2, regarding the appointment of the Commissioner of Maritime Affairs is repealed. Subsection (2) of section 15 is amended by deleting "Minister", and substituting "Maritime Appeal Tribunal established by the Vanuatu Maritime Authority Act No. 29 of 1998.". Section 15 concerns appeal from decisions of the Commissioner of Maritime Affairs. Section 150, concerning arbitration is amended by omitting "Commissioner of Maritime Affairs or his appointed representative, acting as sole arbitrator", and substituting "Maritime Appeal Tribunal established by the Vanuatu Maritime Authority Act No. 29 of 1998.
