Abstract
This Act declares the internal waters, archipelagic waters, territorial sea, contiguous zone, exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of Vanuatu, defines the boundaries of the declared maritime zones and defines jurisdiction and rights of Vanuatu in respect of those zones. The Act also concerns, among other things, innocent passage, research in the territorial sea and archipelagic waters, resolution of disputes with other states and regulation-making powers of the Minister. The Act declares the rights of Vanuatu for the purpose of exploring and exploiting its natural resources in the continental shelf.
