Abstract
The Ports (Amendment) Act No. 18 of 2021 aims to streamline port operations, enhance security measures, and ensure effective management and administration of ports in Vanuatu under the guidance of the Director.The Director is tasked with providing policy directives on Ports infrastructure development, advising the Minister on Ports policy and development, and enforcing ports security measures and operations on Government ports infrastructures. Furthermore, the amendments introduce provisions related to dealing with vessels within port limits, specifying that unauthorized interference with wrecked or stranded vessels is prohibited unless authorized by the master or owner. Failure to comply with directives from the Director or contravention of specified regulations may result in penalties, including fines or imprisonment for individuals or corporations.
