Abstract
This Act provides for market rules and protection of consumers in Samoa. The objects of this Act are: (a) to promote competition in markets in Samoa; and (b) to establish standards of conduct for those engaged in trade in Samoa; and (c) to contribute to a trading environment in which the safety and interests of consumers are protected and consumers and businesses participate confidently. A consumer information standard or a product safety standard does not apply to goods to which an order under section 7A of the Food and Drugs Act 1967 applies (whether the order is made before or after the commencement of this Part). The Act establishes the Competition and Consumer Commission.
