Abstract
This Act concerns the planning the use, development, management and protection of land in Samoa. One of the declared objectives (sect. 8) of this Act is to provide for the fair, orderly, economic and sustainable use, development and management of land including the protection of natural and man-made resources and the maintenance of ecological processes and genetic diversity. The Planning and Urban Management Agency is established under section 4 and the Planning and Urban Management Board under section 5. The functions of the Board are set out in section 9. Part IV of this Act makes provision for the preparation of Sustainable Management Plans, the contents of which are outlined in section 15. In relation to the carrying out of development, including any matter identified in a sustainable management plan, the Board may cause to be prepared and may approve a set of development standards in accordance with section 32. Part V and in particular section 42 concerns Environmental Impact Assessment. Development shall be authorized by the Agency. A Planning Tribunal is established under section 67 for purposes of this Act.

An Act to establish a Planning and Urban Management Agency and to implement a framework for planning the use, development, management and protection of land in Samoa in the present and long - term interests of all Samoans and for related purposes.
Entry into force notes
This Act shall commence or any part or shall commence on the day or days nominated by the Minister.
