Abstract
This Law amends articles 4, 8, and 26 of Law No. 42/1991 as follows: (a) prohibition of local vessels and foreign vessels to fish in the territorial waters of the Republic unless upon acquiring the required licence from the Ministry with the exception of local vessels operating without engines (art. 4); (b) fishing licences for public sector vessels, cooperative sectors and local individual fishermen shall be issued once every 3 years; (c) the Ministry shall issue fishing licences for fisheries cooperative vessels and local individual fishermen vessels. The Ministry shall define the technical requirements necessary for local and foreign fishing vessels and, according to this, shall register them as well as give them a licence for fishing in the territorial sea of the Republic (art. 8). The amendment of article 26 is related to offences and penalties.
