Abstract
This Notice declares various areas of South Africa to be marine protected areas in accordance with the Marine Living Resources Act and provides some rules relative to fishing in these areas.
The Notice limits the application of section 43 (2)(a) of the Act with respect to fishing in specified marine protected areas. It also prohibits the varying of fish by vessels in specified areas. Fishing for whale sharks requires a permit of the competent authority as defined by the Act.
