Abstract
These Regulations, made by the Minister of Transport Affairs under section 3 of the Marine Pollution (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Act, concern compliance of South African ships carrying chemical substances with the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk issued under the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships. Every chemical tanker shall comply with the Code as specified by these Regulations. A Certificate of Fitness shall be issued after satisfactory survey by the Director-General of Transport. The Regulations also concern detention of ships and define offences.
