Abstract
These Regulations, made under Section 15 of the Agricultural Product Standards Act, no. 119 of 1990, provide for the control of export of canned and processed products. The Regulations concern: dried fruits; canned food; vegetables; herbs and spices; herbal tea; commercial sterilisation, as the appropriate treatments to render canned food free from micro-organisms; certificate attesting to conformity of a consignment of regulated agricultural products to stipulated requirements; food additive; food business operator. Matters covered by these Regulations include: requirements and restrictions to export processed food; application for approval for export, and particulars to be included in the application; presentation for inspection of each consignment of processed and canned products; consignment note; inspection procedure; assessment of the competence of testing laboratories involved in the export of processed products and compliance with standards and guidelines for internal quality control; fees for inspection and analyses; offences and penalties.
