Abstract
This Act makes provision for the control over the sale and exportation of agricultural products. For this purpose, the Minister of Agriculture is granted powers to prohibit the sale or the exportation of a product that does not meet requirements as specified by or under this Act or, in case of exportation, is not approved by the executive officer appointed by the Minister pursuant to this Act.
The Minister may also, among other things, prescribe a distinctive mark for a product for sale in South Africa referring to a particular class or grade of such product so as to certify the correctness of the indication of the class or grade concerned.
The Act further provides powers to authorized officer, defines offences, provides for appeal against decisions of the executive officer and grants regulation-making powers to the Minister.
