Abstract
These Regulations, made under the Ship Registration Act, 1998 prescribe ships for purposes of section 1(6)(b) of the Act and provide rules relative to nationality of ships, registration of ships and ownership of ships and some rules of civil law relative to transfer of ships, mortgage, etc.
Ships prescribed for purposes of section 1(6)(b) of Act include classes of ships of: (a) fishing vessels; (b) ships other than fishing vessels, being: (i) ships of less than 500 gross tonnage; (ii) ships not propelled by mechanical means; (iii) ships on bareboat charter where, in the opinion of the Registrar, the period of the bareboat charter is less than two years.
